Evan Engram – TE, New York Giants

ADP: #56 (TE4)

Picture this: you just signed up for a production of Shakespeare’s classic love story Romeo and Juliet, but were casted as the first understudy to play Romeo. The lead gets hurt, you step in, bring the crowd to their feet and ride off into the sunset.

Now imagine you attempt to do this another time. Except this year, Romeo is perfectly healthy and the director wasted the entire budget recruiting a professional actor to compete with you for the second leading role.

You are Evan Engram, and no one is throwing roses at your feet this season.

With both Odell Beckham and Saquon Barkley in town demanding targets and financial investment, the path for Engram to justify his draft price isn’t realistic.

Next: Best NFL player from each state

He’s a talented player stuck at the bottom of a much more talented totem poll.

He finished as the TE5 last year after an early season injury to Beckham. He’s being drafted as the fourth tight end off the board. This means according to ADP he’s projected to improve on his season from a year ago, even though Beckham is healthy again and the Giants selected a once in a generation running back with the second overall pick.

Engram has a bright future as a player, but he’s standing under a dark fantasy football cloud for 2018.
