Find out five games that New Jersey Devils fans must mark their calendars for in 2018-19.
The standard was set and 2018 was memorable for the New Jersey Devils for a number of reasons, especially since the team clinched a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2012. Jersey’s team even witnessed its first Hart Memorial Trophy winner as the league’s most valuable player, after forward Taylor Hall took home some hardware at the 2018 NHL Awards.
There’s a new culture in New Jersey with the Devils and the expectations are that much higher after last season’s success.
Here are five Devils games that we’re looking forward to the most in 2018-19.
5. New York Islanders vs. New Jersey Devils: Nov. 23, 2018
The day after Thanksgiving marks the first game that general manager Lou Lamoriello will take on his former club at the Prudential Center as a member of the New York Islanders organization.
The Holiday weekend should make for an exciting atmosphere at the Rock, and this hockey jersey enthusiast truly believes that the game will also be the first time that the team’s new Heritage Jersey will take to the ice in the Garden State. Perhaps the Islanders will wear their new alternate jersey, too.
Last season proved how crucial every game and collected point in the standings matter, and this contest is no different. Out of the 15 games that the Devils are scheduled to play in November, only four of those games are on home ice.
Keep in mind that New Jersey was 16-10-2 vs. Metropolitan Division opponents last season, and went 3-0-1 against the Islanders while outscoring them 14-10.
Since Lamoriello left the Devils, his record against New Jersey is 5-3-1, and his new Isles will certainly take to the ice with a chip on their shoulder without former captain, John Tavares.
