46. Milan Macvan, PF, Bayern Munich

Nationality/College: Serbian

2017-18 stats: 11.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.2 assists per game

Career synopsis: Macvan was selected 54th in the 2009 NBA Draft by the Cleveland Cavaliers, who still retain his NBA rights. He’s established a very strong European career however, spending time in Italy, Serbia, Israel, Turkey, and this past year with Bayern in Germany. He enjoyed his best year with Partizan in 2014-2015, averaging 12.8 points and 7.9 rebounds per game. This will be his sixth Euroleague appearance. He also has an Olympic silver medal from Serbia’s 2016 run.

Representative Highlight Play:

What’s his skill set?:  Constant energy, hustle, and raw brutal power define Macvan’s game. He’s one of the best garbage men around on offense, with the added benefit of being a very skilled passer, and on defense he’s versatile, able to track with guards and fight with centers for rebounds.

What makes him special?: Macvan is a high school basketballl coach’s fever dream. He is never going to pop off the screen, but if you watch him closely, he’s constantly making the plays that define winning basketball. He has played for years as Serbia’s bench unit lynch pin, and for Bayern, he’s their outlet, the player they can rely on to always be in the right spot to finish a possession on both ends. Bayern’s a defense-first, hard-nosed club, and Macvan defines that ethos.
