Week 6: Oct. 6 – Texas vs. Oklahoma (Dallas, TX)

When the Red River Showdown is on, the college football world stops on a tilt. This is perhaps the biggest rivalry game in all of college football and there’s no denying that this is always one of the most entertaining games each season.

Whether both programs are up or one is down while the other is on top, these two put on a show. The Cotton Bowl has long been host to Texas and Oklahoma doing battle, and these two teams will square off at the beginning of October.

Last season, both programs went through their first season with a new head coach. Both started in different spots with their program. Lincoln Riley took over an established powerhouse at Oklahoma, while Tom Herman took over a Texas team in need of help.

Now, Texas is on the rise and is looking to catch up to Oklahoma. For Herman, this season is all about building off of last year and adding on some signature wins that the program can hang their hat on.

For Oklahoma, it’s about staying on top of their rival, as they try to pursue another Big-12 Championship behind quarterback Kyler Murray. The game is still a way out but it is an absolute lock for College GameDay.
