Oasis – Manchester City

Noel and Liam Gallagher may have an tenuous relationship, but the former Oasis bandmates can agree on one thing: their love of Manchester City. Long before the Citizens were Premier League winners and record breakers, the Gallaghers could be seen sporting their famous sky blue kits. The brothers attend games at the Etihad on a regular basis, though what were once two-person outings now see them keep their distance from one another.

The pair aren’t shy about making their opinions known when it comes to their beloved club. Liam sent a profane tweet in the direction of City manager Pep Guardiola after seeing his lineup for City’s second leg game against Liverpool in last year’s Champions League. Gallagher was likely even angrier after the game. City would lose the game 2-1, and lose to Liverpool 5-1 on aggregate, knocking them out of the competition entirely.

City looked to the music of the Manchester natives as a rallying point in last season’s successful run to the Premier League crown. City defender John Stones said that Guardiola made it a tradition for the players to listen to Oasis’ biggest hit “Wonderwall” before all of their games. The Citizens began listening to the song before matches around October, and the rest seems to be history.

In the new documentary “All or Nothing: Manchester City,” which documents the historic and record breaking 2017-18 Manchester City season, Noel Gallagher explains his lifelong love for the club.

“I was in love with City before I was even in love with music,” he said. ” I was in love with City before I was in love with my wife, my kids. It was the first thing that I ever loved.”
