1. Cordarrelle Patterson scores eight touchdowns as strong flex option

The New England Patriots just do things different from the rest of the league. They aren’t afraid to take someone else’s castoff and hand them a major roll. It’s starting to look like Cordarrelle Patterson might be the last resurrection project.

Patterson is an explosive athlete who is a threat every time he touches the ball. However, he has been unable to grasp the science of route-running.

This is why he was relegated to return duties in his final years with the Minnesota Vikings. The Patriots obviously brought Patterson on board because of his return skills. They have since found ways to work him into the offensive game plan.

Josh McDaniels is a creative play caller who likes to use Tom Brady’s quick release and accuracy. This is exactly where Patterson will contribute. Look for him to be a part of the screen game as well as working the underneath routes.

He still has plenty of speed to stretch the field and provide a long touchdown or two.

New England’s wide receiver depth chart is far from settled. Julian Edelman is out for the first four games which provides an opportunity for Patterson. Phillip Dorsett hasn’t exactly lit the world on fire so it isn’t a stretch to see Patterson as the No. 2 wide receiver.
