8. Manny Wilkins, QB, Arizona State

Full disclosure, Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback Manny Wilkins is not someone that I was expecting to ever include in this conversation. However, with how the senior signal-caller and his team have looked through the first two weeks of the season, it’s time to start talking about him a little bit more than we are right now.

Wilkins only threw for one score and one interception in the upset win over Michigan State in Week 2, but he was the heart of the offense as the ground game was stifled. This also came after tossing four touchdowns a week ago in a dominant win over UTSA. Wilkins hasn’t been overly prolific, but he’s put up solid numbers to this point and has a narrative behind him as he’s leading an early-season sleeper. If he keeps it up, he will join his team in earning sleeper status.

7. Kylin Hill, RB, Mississippi State

In the opening weekend of the 2018 season, the Mississippi State Bulldogs really didn’t need to see much of sophomore running back Kylin Hill. They were trouncing the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks, so the runner got just nine carries on the day, though he did take them for a solid 50 yards. On Saturday against the Kansas State Wildcats, however, Hill was needed in a massive way — and came through in an even bigger manner.

On 17 carries for the afternoon, Hill rushed for an incredible 211 yards and two touchdowns. Just for good measure, the sophomore hauled in one reception on the day, a 16-yard touchdown catch. He was responsible for 21 of the Bulldogs’ 31 points on the afternoon and spearheaded a big-time victory.
