Kyle Busch totally put the bumper to Dale Earnhardt Jr. while he was driving the Brickyard 400 pace car

Rowdy made sure Junior didn’t feel left out in his return to Indianapolis Motor Speedway by giving him a friendly bump or two.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. appears to be very much at peace with his decision to move from the race car to the broadcast booth, though he naturally admits to missing some parts of being a racer on occasion. One of those moments came when Junior drove the pace car for the rain delayed Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Monday, though Kyle Busch was ready to make sure he felt like part of the garage again.

Earnhardt was actually doing double duty before the race, driving the pace car and doing live commentary for NBC Sports at the same time. While he was pacing the field, he got a friendly bumper from Kyle Busch, who was sitting on the pole thanks to the rain setting the starting spots by points.

Take a look here:

Junior was having a busy but good Monday at the Brickyard even before he got behind the wheel. Earlier in the morning, he watched one of his JR Motorsports drivers, Justin Allgaier, win the similarly delayed Lilly Diabetes 250, his second straight XFINITY Series victory. Allgaier figures to be one of the top contenders for that series’ championship in the weeks to come.

While Earnhardt will broadcast the rest of the Brickyard 400 from a perch above one of the turns, Busch will set out to win the race for the third time in four years. Things like this remind us all that despite his well-deserved (and invited, in some cases) heel persona, Rowdy really does have a good sense of humor that shows in moments like this.
