8. Derek Carr

Derek Carr was bad Monday night. However, some of that can be attributed to the game plan. While Carr struggled with the deep ball last year, he was outstanding in 2015 and 2016 when he completed 103 passes for more than 20 yards between those two seasons.

On Monday, his averaged intended air yards was the second worst in the league at 5.3. He needs to be allowed to open things up. Combine that with Jon Gruden’s stated commitment to get the ball to Amari Cooper, Carr could have a big week against Denver.

7. Jimmy Garoppolo

Jimmy G struggled against the talented Vikings defense last week, throwing three interceptions. Unfortunately, this week he draws the Lions who will be angry coming off of a beat down. Last year, the Lion finished fourth in the NFL in interceptions with 19 and will do everything they can do get some more off of Garoppolo.

However, he has one thing working in his favor that Sam Darnold was able to maximize against the Lions. No Ziggy Ansah. Ansah was hurt against the Jets on Monday and that allowed Darnold to finish with the third-highest time to throw in the NFL. Should Ansah be unable to play, Garoppolo will have time in the pocket to pick apart the Lions defense.
