Running Backs: Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints- $9,000; Todd Gurley, Los Angeles Rams- $8,900

The biggest Week 1 surprise was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeating the New Orleans Saints at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, 48-40. Who would have thought Ryan Fitzpatrick would out duel Drew Brees?

What wasn’t a surprise in this game, was how dominant Kamara was. The reigning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year recipient, compiled 141 total yards and scored three times. Kamara’s efficiency in the pass game and red zone rushing was magnificent. He scored 38.60 points, the most at the running back position. The only player that scored more in Week 1 was Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill.

Expect Kamara to have another dominating performance in Week 2 against the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland allowed James Conner, the Steelers’ back up running back, to gain 192 total yards and two scores. There is a good chance Kamara’s numbers are even better in Week 2.

Similarly, Gurley had success in game number one and has a favorable Week 2 match up. The fourth-year back rushed for 108 yards on 20 carries and caught three passes for 39 yards and one score. He finished with 22.20 points, fourth most at the running back position.

This week, he goes up against the Arizona Cardinals, who allowed veteran back Adrian Peterson gain 166 total yards and one score. In six games against the Cardinals, Gurley has rushed for 440 yards and one score. If the Cardinals couldn’t contain Peterson, they will have trouble trying to stop a spry Gurley. Having both of these backs on your roster will cost you, but both are locks to be top performers in Week 2.
