Kerryon Johnson finishes as a top-10 running back

The Detroit Lions are a much better overall football team when they are committed to establishing a running game. This is the strategy they took against the New England Patriots and that was the best the offense looked all season.

One of the main factors in the Lions being able to get the running game going is Kerryon Johnson. He’s a young and explosive runner who is averaging over five yards per carry.

Johnson provides a spark to the offense with the ability to break off long runs. He’s someone who can also help in the passing game. It’s looking like Theo Riddick could miss this week’s game which would provide more pass catching opportunities for Johnson.

The Lions take on the Miami Dolphins this week who are allowing nearly 120 rushing yards per game. Johnson and the Lions should be able to take advantage of this matchup.

It’s not hard to imagine a scenario where Johnson approaches the 100-yard rushing mark while catching a handful of passes. This would put him near the top in scoring in just about all formats. With Riddick out of the lineup, Johnson absolutely looks like a strong PPR play.
