DraftKings NFL Week 7 lineup
By Joe Romano
Wide Receivers
Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings @ New York Jets – $8600
Like Jared Goff, Adam Thielen is finally getting the love he deserves in the fantasy community. Thielen is right up there with Julio Jones and Antonio Brown in every statistical category. Now this week may not be the week to throw him atop the pricing. New York’s secondary has been stellar at times this season. Good news for Thielen is he may be able to avoid the best corners with most of his work coming from the slot. He is a matchup nightmare for this team and could prove that pricing correct with a trip to the end zone and his high volume.
Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints @ Baltimore Ravens – $7900
Speaking of high volume, the Saints Michael Thomas clearly deserves to be in the conversation for top receiver in the league. He is on pace for record breaking numbers with Drew Brees at the helm. This week he gets a tough matchup in Baltimore who allows the fifth fewest points per game to receivers. With Jimmy Smith back, it is going to be tough sledding. Volume alone may be enough to justify this price but on the road is a tough ask for Thomas.
Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Cleveland Browns – $7700
Mike Evans is probably happy that Jameis Winston is back under center. The two clearly have a rapport that he simply did not have with Ryan Fitzpatrick. Winston allows Evans to go up and get the deep shots that Evans thrives at. Now with a Cleveland secondary awaiting, Evans could be in line for a big game. Statistically Cleveland is tenth in points allowed to opposing receivers. A player like Evans is a tough ask for a team who’s best corner is an undersized rookie, albeit a great undersized rookie. Denzel Ward is going to have trouble in the red zone against Evans big body and jumping. If Winston can move the ball, Evans is going to be in for a big week.
Jarvis Landry, Cleveland Browns @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – $7300
Opposite Evans is Jarvis Landry. Where Evans wins deep and in the red zone, Landry is a technician running routes and making contested catches. His role has grown in Cleveland to more than just grabbing a 5 yard out, which is great for his fantasy value. Landry gets a Buccaneers defense that has been shredded all season and just fired their defensive coordinator. Especially in the red zone, where Tampa is historically bad, Landry could cause some damage.
Stefon Diggs, Minnesota Vikings @ New York Jets – $7200
The second Vikings receiver cracks the top five in Stefon Diggs. Thielen is getting a lot of love this season but Diggs is putting up quality numbers as well as the team’s best outside threat. With the Jets having a strong corner duo, this ranking seems odd. New York’s Trumaine Johnson will likely get the assignment here, and that is tough for Diggs. Thielen would be the play if you want a Vikings receiver in your lineup, even with the $1600 price increase.
Value Wide Receiver
John Brown, Baltimore Ravens vs New Orleans Saints – $5700
It is unlikely and may not matter, if Marshon Lattimore shadows any of the Ravens receivers. The new addition of Brown has been a spark for the Ravens offense. I already mentioned Flacco as a value play and that is tied to the production of Brown who has been a playmaker in every game except a week ago. Flacco and Brown connection is a strong stack against a weak Saints defense that has looked like a shell of a unit it was a year ago.
Marquise Goodwin, San Francisco 49ers vs Los Angeles Rams – $4600
Another receiver that is attached to a value quarterback play is Marquise Goodwin. His best game of the season was on Monday night after DraftKing set their pricing. That means he is undervalued. In a game where San Francisco is going to have to throw and Vegas pegs as the highest scoring of the week, Goodwin will see work. Expectations need to be tempered a bit but there is always a chance of a big play with this kind of speed.
Taylor Gabriel, Chicago Bears vs New England Patriots – $4700
With Allen Robinson a game time decision, the opportunity is there for another offseason signing for Chicago to have a good day. Taylor Gabriel, the speedy receiver, could snag some of the Robinson targets should he not play. Going against the defense of New England that has been susceptible to big plays, this is a prime spot. Chicago will likely try to lean on the running game but Gabriel will be the guy that gets the big shots with Robinson out.
