9. Derek Carr, QB, Oakland Raiders

It has been a rough season for Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders, who sit at 1-6 after seven weeks of shoddy play under new, high-priced head coach Jon Gruden. Carr appears to be safe in Oakland, but he did have the weight of the world on his shoulders in Week 8 against the Indianapolis Colts.

While the Raiders failed to defeat the Colts, the blame goes to the defense. Carr did everything he could with unenviable media scrutiny, completing 21 of 28 passes for 244 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Since Carr has thrown 8 interceptions this season, this was his first game with multiple touchdowns and no picks, as it pushed his TD:INT ratio above 1:1.

Although the Raiders are struggling and no longer have Amari Cooper, Carr isn’t a bad option to have stashed away on the bench, because he has completed over 70% of his passes and owns three 300-yard games this year. The Raiders defense is atrocious, so the offense will continue to dial up plenty of plays. Doug Martin looked encouraging at the running back position, but he may not have enough in the tank to eat enough plays from Carr.
