4. Utah State Aggies (MWC) 7-1

Utah State was simply dominant last Saturday against New Mexico. After going three-and-out on their first possession, the Aggie offense scored touchdowns on their next six possessions (each drive was at least 69 yards). The defense added a pick-six to make it 49 straight points in less than 20 minutes of game time in the first half.

49 points in roughly one-third of the game!

USU led 52-5 at halftime and stretched it to 58-5 with two early field goals in the second half. They totaled 704 yards of offense on the game. Sophomore quarterback Jordan Love threw for four touchdowns and a career-high 448 yards.

Up next: Saturday at Hawaii.

3. Houston Cougars (AAC) 7-1

D’Eriq King and the Houston offense picked apart previously unbeaten South Florida last Saturday. King accounted for seven touchdowns in the 57-36 victory–five passing and two rushing. The Cougars piled up 682 yards of offense. King was responsible for most of that as well, as he threw for 419 yards and rushed for 132. Ed Oliver, the Houston defensive lineman widely considered as a top prospect for the 2019 NFL draft, sat out the game with an injury. With the offense playing the way they did last Saturday, Oliver can take all the time he needs.

Up next: Saturday at SMU.
