Next Game: vs Cal

Washington State quarterback Gardner Minshew has suddenly grabbed the attention of the entire nation, and with him the Washington State Cougars.

Minshew now leads the nation in yards-per-game average at 397.9, and his 51.8 attempts per game are also second to none. With that much passing going on, defenses know exactly what’s coming and yet still don’t seem to be able to stop Minshew or the Cougars.

That may change when the Cal Golden Bears travel up to Pullman this week. Cal has the number one pass defense in the Pac-12, and No. 8 in the nation, surrendering only 165.5 passing yards per game. This is the epitome of immovable object meeting irresistible force.

This will be a fun game that will definitely shape not only the Heisman race, but the College Football Playoff rankings as well, with Washington State entering the game ranked No. 8 by the committee.

Let’s face it. College football is better when Mike Leach has a team and a player doing special things.
