6. Travis Etienne, RB, Clemson

After rising tremendously in the Heisman rankings at the beginning of October, Clemson Tigers running back Travis Etienne fell off a bit the next two weeks, rushing for just a combined 94 yards in those games, though he did score three times against NC State. As Clemson was unleashing full domination on Louisville in Week 10, however, Etienne bounced back with a monster performance, even with only getting limited work in the 77-16 blowout.

The sophomore running back only had eight carries on the day, but he made the most of them in a big way. Etienne rushed for 153 yards on the day — good for an insane 19.1 yards per carry — and found the end zone once. Now just two yards shy of 1,000 on the season and with 15 trips across the goal line, Etienne is back in the mix in this race.

5. Dwayne Haskins, QB, Ohio State

Coming off of an upset loss to the Purdue Boilermakers, the hope was that Dwayne Haskins and the Ohio State Buckeyes would bounce back and make a statement against a Nebraska Cornhuskers team that has struggled immensely this season. That wasn’t the case, however, and Haskins’ stock takes a bit of a hit as a result.

His overall stat-line isn’t horrible, throwing for 252 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. However, Ohio State squeaking out a win over the Huskers was largely due to their running game making big plays, not to Haskins playing well in the clutch. He was pedestrian at best and the close-call against a vastly inferior opponent is indicative of the play of the quarterback on Saturday.
