Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, Green Bay Packers

Geronimo Allison has struggled with injuries this season and Randall Cobb has also had his own injury woes. These two factors allowed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to emerge as a legitimate target in the Green Bay Packers offense, and he likely usurped both Cobb and Allison, who remained out in Week 9, with his display against the New England Patriots.

Valdes-Scantling, a fifth-round rookie out of USF, brings plenty of playmaking ability to the Packers offense, which is more than can be said for Cobb, who has been a real drag on the Packers passing attack. Cobb could once tout his familiarity with Aaron Rodgers and the offense as a benefit, but “MVS” has slowly developed a good rapport with Rodgers.

Against New England, Valdes-Scantling blew up with his second 100-yard receiving game, and he now has four straight games with at least 10 fantasy football points. Valdes-Scantling has been a steady fantasy option ever since breaking into the lineup, and he only needs three catches to make his presence felt, as he showed in Week 9.

In fact, Valdes-Scantling has just one game with more than 3 receptions this season, and it wasn’t one of his two 100-yard performances either. Even when he doesn’t catch many passes, he either scores or racks up yardage, and he’s a valuable fantasy weapon to have. At this point, like Duke Johnson, Marquez Valdes-Scantling should be owned in all fantasy leagues.
