Jeff Heuerman, TE, Denver Broncos

Fantasy football owners have been waiting for years for the elusive breakout campaign from Denver Broncos tight end Jeff Heuerman, who entered the NFL in 2015 as a touted third-round pick out of Ohio State.

Heuerman, however, caught just 9 passes for 141 yards and 142 yards in  the 2016 and 2017 seasons, respectively, after missing his entire true rookie year with an injury. In 2018, even with Case Keenum under center, Heuerman has easily cleared those stats with 25 receptions for 217 yards and two touchdowns.

While an average of 24 receiving yards per game is hardly impressive, it is progress for Heuerman, and what’s more encouraging is that he’s coming off of easily the best game of his carer.

After catching just one pass for four yards against the Kansas City Chiefs (though it was for a touchdown), Heuerman blew up from out of nowhere against the Houston Texans in Week 9. He caught 10 passes for 83 yards and another touchdown, matching his career haul for scores in back-to-back games.

Fantasy owners expected promising rookie Courtland Sutton to benefit greatly from the trade that sent veteran receiver Demaryius Thomas to the Texans, but it looks like Heuerman is also a huge beneficiary of the move. He’s always shown upside as a red zone target, and now the upside is starting to come to fruition.
