3. Bet on the Chargers -10 at Oakland

Betting against Jon Gruden hasn’t been a perfect betting strategy this season, but the Raiders are 2-6 against the spread on the year. That’s one game better than their actual record, but it still gives us significant reason to take the Chargers to cover in this game.

Philip Rivers and company can really move the ball on offense. Their vertical passing game is a terrible matchup for an Oakland defense that struggles to pressure the passer. Keenan Allen and company are going to enjoy a lot of opportunities to make big plays in this one.

On the other side of the ball, it could be a long game for Derek Carr and company. The absence of Marshawn Lynch puts way too much pressure on Oakland’s embattled signal caller to carry the load on offense. He can make throws when he’s given a comfortable pocket, but that’s not a luxury he’ll enjoy in this game. Look for the Chargers to blitz Carr early and often.

We acknowledge the fact that 10 points is a pretty large NFL spread, but the Raiders are a team speeding towards the No. 1 pick in next April’s draft. The Chargers will do their best to help them on their way on Sunday. Bet on Rivers and company to cover the spread.
