MIAMI, FL – FEBRUARY 5: D.J. Augustin /

High Value PG

Players costing $6,250 or under

D.J. Augustin (vs NY – $4,200): Needs 19 fantasy points. The Magic are on a back-to-back, but they are playing the Knicks and still at home. So does it really count? No, not really. Augustin had 34.25 fantasy points against the Lakers on Saturday. The minutes are typically there and he has a high ceiling when he’s on his game. Against the Knicks, there’s no reason to think he’ll be off. Diagnosis: Low-cost option who gets plenty of minutes and typically gets enough points and assists to be over value. Plus, it’s the Knicks.

Justise Winslow (vs LAL – $5,100): Needs 23.2 fantasy points. Winslow has tailed off since his first start, but he’s been at value in the last two games. His salary has dropped and that makes him easier to fit into your lineup. He can do a bit of everything when he’s on the game. I like the matchup. Diagnosis: Fairly reliable at this salary. Ceiling is high.

Allonzo Trier (at ORL – $4,500): Needs 20.9 fantasy points. Trier has been over 23 fantasy points in five of his last six games. He had 27.25 fantasy points against the Magic on Nov. 11. He’ll get the minutes and he’s reliable at this salary. Even things are going well for him, he can overdeliver. Diagnosis: Solid low-cost option. The matchup is good, one he’s proven against, and his ceiling is relatively high. Reliable if nothing else.
