The Michigan State Spartans should not have lost a low scoring game. Winning low scoring games is seemingly what this team does best, but on the road against the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Michigan State simply couldn’t muster enough on offense to win and lost an ugly game by a score of 9-6. The Spartans will face Rutgers this week.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers took down Michigan State in a field goal fest thanks to some late game heroics from Nebraska’s Barret Pickering. With the Cornhuskers down 6-0 with a little over 12 minutes left in the game, Pickering kicked three field goals in the final quarter to get the win for Nebraska. This game was sloppy as neither team played well on offense, but the Cornhuskers have to be happy with the result. No, Nebraska can’t go bowling this season, but it can take momentum into next year and that’s what the Cornhuskers seem to be doing. If Scott Frost really wants to get positive momentum for the 2019 season, then Nebraska will need to upend the Iowa Hawkeyes this week.

The Wisconsin Badgers did a great job of winning in a way that’s not necessarily normal for them. To go on the road and beat the Purdue Boilermakers in a high scoring game is commendable and is something that deserves some recognition. Can the Badgers end a rocky season on a high note this week? They’ll have an opportunity to deny the Minnesota Golden Gophers a chance at a bowl game while also improving their own record for a chance at a better bowl.
