New England Patriots – Zach Allen, EDGE, Boston College

With Trey Flowers set to hit free agency, the Patriots will be in the market for another edge rusher and why not look further than their own backyard with Boston College standout Zach Allen.

Allen (6-foot-5, 285 pounds) has posted three consecutive seasons with 10+ tackles for loss and has a career-high 6.5 sacks in 2018 for the Golden Eagles. While he isn’t the most flexible pass rusher, Allen is extremely tough at the point of the attack and does an excellent job at setting the edge.

There’s some versatility to Allen’s game that should allow him to line up in multiple fronts despite not being a pure speed rusher like some of the other prospects in this class. He’s an extremely smart player and could see a lot of his draft stock hinge on how he tests athletically at the Combine.

Allen seems like one of those players that a lot of teams will undervalue and some way or another, he’ll find his way on to the Patriots where he’ll have success early on. That’s why he would be an excellent fit for Bill Belichick’s perennial Super Bowl-contending squad.
