Running Backs: Alvin Kamara, New Orleans Saints- $8,300 & LeGarrette Blount, Detroit Lions- $5,600

The New Orleans Saints fell to the Dallas Cowboys last week 13-10 and lost their first game since the season opener. This was the first time the Saints were held under 20 points in 2018 . Over the last two weeks, Kamara hasn’t been nearly as explosive as he has been all year.

Kamara failed to eclipse the 100+ total yard mark for the second straight week and was held scoreless in the both games. This is the second time this season where the second year back has been held out of the end zone in consecutive games.

Don’t let Kamara’s recent production scare you, especially this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In their first meeting, he gained 141 total yards and scored three touchdowns. He finished the afternoon with 38.6 fantasy points, which is tied for a season high.

Tampa Bay has allowed backs to rush for 1,114 yards on the ground and 13 touchdowns. In addition, they have surrendered 608 yards through the air and five touchdowns. On average, backs are scoring 26 fantasy points per game, fifth most in the league.

Basically, if your a versatile back, you should have success against Tampa’s defense.

Our second running back has taken over as the starter because rookie Kerryon Johnson suffered a knee injury. With Johnson sidelined, Blount has had the bulk of carries. In two starts he is averaging 17.5 carries and 74.5 yards per game.

Blount scored two touchdowns in Week 12’s matchup against the Chicago Bears. This week, he takes on an Arizona Cardinals team who struggles immensely against the run.

Backs have tallied 1,503 rushing yards against the Cardinals, third most in the league. They have scored 15 touchdowns on the ground, the most in the NFL. Arizona has allowed running backs to rush for 100+ yards in two of their last three matchups.

Blount has played the Cardinals three times in his career and has never lost. Each time he was on a different team and has found success against them, nearly averaging five yards per carry. Keep an eye out on Johnson’s health status, if he can’t go, Blount will be a perfect back to add to your lineup.
