LeGarrette Blount, Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals

Though LeGarrette Blount offers absolutely nothing as a pass-catcher, he will be the Detroit Lions starting running back again this week with Kerryon Johnson still injured. Johnson hasn’t played in a game since before Thanksgiving due to a knee injury, and Blount has soaked up the carries in the Lions offense as a result.

Last week in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Blount had a mediocre fantasy football performance, carrying the ball 16 times for 61 yards with no touchdowns. Blount is a pretty touchdown-dependent player, as he’s scored five times this season with two of them coming during a big Thanksgiving Day display against the Chicago Bears, which included 103 total yards from scrimmage.

Blount is one of the more effective backs in the league in short-yardage situations, but we haven’t seen it translate into consistent scoring opportunities. The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots star’s touchdowns have come in patches, but perhaps he could find paydirt in Week 14 against an Arizona Cardinals defense that is allowing a league-high 17 rushing touchdowns.

Over the past two weeks, Blount has 35 carries in Johnson’s absence, and it honestly seems like the six fantasy points he scored against Los Angeles will be his floor going forward.
