2. Arsenal’s unbeaten streak ended by Southampton

Arsenal are not only one of the most in-form sides in the Premier League but they’re also one of the best sides in Europe right now. The Gunners haven’t lost in all competitions since August and Unai Emery seems to have created a feeling of invincibility in his squad.

They’ve maybe not won as many games as they should have done but the London side are looking more and more like the team that won titles and challenged to the latter stages of the Champions League. That run looks like continuing this weekend as Arsenal face a trip to Southampton.

The Saints brought in Ralph Hasenhuttl before their match with Cardiff last weekend and the Austrian coach can perhaps feel a little hard done by to have lost that game. His side had some good chances as well as some quite blatant penalty claims that were turned away.

However, they were undone by some terrible defending that has been symptomatic of their season so far. If the south coast side want to stay up this season then they’re going to need to improve at the back.

The Saints actually look quite dangerous going forward with players like Nathan Redmond and Charlie Austin posing good attacking threats. Midfielder Stuart Armstrong has also found his feet after his move from Celtic, with three goals already this season.

It’s hard to see Southampton keeping this Arsenal side out as Emery’s team just keep finding ways to win. Last weekend they chipped away at a resilient Huddersfield defense and finally got their reward when Lucas Torreira scored a late overhead winner.

Last season Arsenal would not have won that game and their fans would have probably given up. That new found belief is carrying them through matches and it will probably help them to all three points on Sunday.

However, this is the bold predictions piece so Hasenhuttl is going to get a huge reaction from his players and the Southampton fans in his first home match. His side will concede but they’ll get a shock win over the Gunners.
