FanDuel daily picks: Fantasy basketball lineup – December 20, 2018
High Salary PG
Players costing over $6,667
Chris Paul (at MIA – $8,500): Needs 35.9 fantasy points. Paul was up to 41.4 fantasy points against the Wizards on Wednesday. His game is fairly reliable and there’s always a chance he has a big night if Harden is struggling for some reason (Harden is not struggling right now). With the way the Rockets are playing, you can count on Paul to give you value. Diagnosis: Reliable.
High Value PG
Players costing $6,667 or under
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (vs DAL – $5,600): Needs 23.6 fantasy points. After a rough stretch, SAG was up to 28.9 fantasy points against the Blazers on Dec. 17. He’s a rookie so his production is going to continue to be all over the place. But the matchup is good and the minutes are typically there. Diagnosis: I think he’ll deliver a strong outing on Thursday. A slight risk but a good ceiling.
Patrick Beverley (vs DAL – $5,200): Needs 21.9 fantasy points. Beverley had 34.3 fantasy points against the Blazers on Dec. 17. With Lou Williams out of the lineup, the hope is that Beverley takes on more of a playmaking responsibility. If that’s the case then he’s a strong option. But it’s not a guarantee, just a theory. Diagnosis: Good matchup and high ceiling.
J.J. Barea (at LAC – $4,500): Needs 19 fantasy points. Barea has been over 20 fantasy points in each of his last two games. Injuries have hurt his production a bit and his minutes aren’t where you would like them to be this season. But he still does enough in the limited playing time. Brunson is getting more playing time, but he’s not quite as reliable. Diagnosis: Reliable.
