Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals drafted Josh Rosen in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft. So why are they appearing on this list? Two words and one handsome man, Kliff Kingsbury.

The Cardinals new coach ranted and raved about Murray in an interview while still at Texas Tech. Kingsbury spoke in the interview at length about how he followed Murray’s career since he was a sophomore in high school.

Kingsbury went so far as to say, “…I would take him with the first pick of the draft if I could.”

Well Kliff, if you can convince your general manager, you can do just that. Arizona owns the first pick in the draft this year. There will be a narrative all draft season connecting Murray to the Cardinals.  They will come in all shapes and sizes including dealing Rosen.

While Rosen did not have the best rookie season, the future is still bright. He’s a talented thrower with a high IQ. The lack of weapons and the NFL’s worst offensive line doomed the rookie’s season from the start.

Rosen seemingly would be the perfect type of quarterback for Kingsbury offense, which emphasizes a wide open field, quick decisions and a ton of plays. Murray with running back David Johnson in the backfield will have option lovers drooling.

Unfortunately for all those who want the Kingsbury-Murray connection to happen, the coach usually does not call the shots in the draft room. That will be reserved for Cardinals’ general manager Steve Keim.

Keim is in place through 2022 and just picked Rosen a year ago. There is little chance of this pairing happening.
