4. Tottenham struggle without Kane as they draw at Fulham

Spurs fans might have found last week’s loss to Manchester United a little easier to take if their enigmatic striker and leader, Harry Kane, wasn’t injured at the end of the match. The England captain injured his ankle and will now be out for up to eight weeks which completely changes Tottenham’s outlook for the next two months.

With 14 goals already this season, Kane is the league’s joint-top scorer and even when he’s not putting the ball in the back of the net he’s causing problems for opponents. Now Mauricio Pochettino will have to figure out how to cope without his talisman.

The good news for Spurs fans is that this is not something new with Kane having been injured in each of the past three seasons. However, the bad news is that the London side are unlikely to sign a replacement this month. Fernando Llorente or Vincent Janssen don’t seem like worthy deputies.

There’s a slight glimmer of hope with Llorente, as when he does play he seems to score, so it’s possible he’ll get the starting spot for now. Although nobody wants to see any player get injured, this has certainly given Fulham a much better chance for when they host Tottenham on Sunday.

Claudio Ranieri is struggling with his side despite them putting in better performances and if they don’t go on some sort of run soon then they will be going straight back down to the Championship. They still don’t look great at the back and will need to be at their very best — even against this Kaneless Spurs — to get anything from this match.

At Craven Cottage, Fulham can keep this game close as the pitch is tight and Spurs will have less time on the ball. The Cottagers can frustrate Tottenham and if they can keep it level at halftime then they can definitely get a point out of this match.

Tottenham will lack a creative edge without Kane and although they might score, Fulham will find the net themselves and hold their London rivals to a point.
