Running Backs

Ryquell Armstead, Temple

Bruce Anderson, North Dakota State

Myles Gaskin, Washington

Karan Higdon, Michigan

Jalin Moore, Appalachian State

L.J. Scott, Michigan State

Dexter Williams Notre Dame

Alec Ingold, Wisconsin –  on the roster as a fullback

Bryce Love, Stanford

Damien Harris, Alabama

The running back position is the hardest to fill out for the Senior Bowl staff. Recently on the Locked on NFL Draft podcast, Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy was the first to point that out. Running back is the type of position where if a player succeeds early in his career and gets a good grade from the NFL advisory committee, he would be best served to enter the draft. With the Senior Bowl being made-up of upper classmen, the pool is a bit limited.

There are still pending invitations out to Alabam’s Damien Harris, and Stanford’s Bryce Love. Both of these players would be the most coveted of the group should they accept the invitation. Love was the rare under-classmen to return to school and can be looked at as to why that decision was unwise. Harris split time in Alabama’s backfield but has the pedigree and make-up of a back that can contribute the minute he steps onto an NFL field.

For the rest of the bunch, there are intriguing players here. It is a mixed bag of old-school backs like L.J. Scott who can be grinders for their offense and modern pass-catching style players like Karan Higdon from Michigan. Gaskin’s is the biggest name of the bunch. His testing numbers and a solid week here could elevate his stock tremendously. Keep an eye on Bruce Anderson from North Dakota State as a hot name during this week. Anderson is the type of third down back every NFL team could use.
