Quarterbacks

Ryan Finley, North Carolina State

Will Grier, West Virginia

Daniel Jones, Duke

Drew Lock, Missouri

Trace McSorley, Penn State

Gardner Minshew, Washington State

Jarrett Stidham, Auburn

Clayton Thorson, Northwestern

There are two quarterbacks in this years’ crop that could hear their name called in the first 32 picks, Missouri’s Drew Lock and Duke’s Daniel Jones. Personally I’m not very high on either player but the NFL will love what they bring. Both are big, strong quarterbacks. Jones in particular has already been tied to the Denver Broncos who own the tenth pick. He has plenty of fans in the league due to his work with Duke coach David Cutcliffe. Lock on the other hand has shown strides in his play in the tough SEC at Missouri. Both have to answer questions as the week progresses.

The rest of the bunch is a mixed bag. Finley will also have fans in the NFL but his lack of arm strength will likely dock him. Grier is the most fun senior quarterback to watch and put up monster numbers. It will come down to his inconsistencies that keep him from being one of the first four quarterbacks taken. McSorley likely does not have an NFL future. The guy was a winner and rallied a Penn State team around him but does not check enough boxes to continue to the next level. Minshew, like McSorley, was a collegiate favorite. His ceiling may be career back-up due to his mental processing and gun-slinging mentality. Stidham also has fans in the NFL but he regressed mightily in his final year at Auburn. Thorson will get love as a sleeper given his size and success at Northwestern but lacks the overall arm ability to succeed as a starter in the NFL.
