10 best prop bets to wager on for Super Bowl 53
By Nick Villano
Players With A Pass – 2 1/2 (Over +110)
This one’s a fun one to bet on, and it could be over early or could have you on the edge of your seat all game. Basically, what you have here is one of these two teams using a trick play to pass with a running back or wide receiver, or having a fake punt or field goal where someone on special teams makes a pass.
The player doesn’t even need to complete the pass, they just need an attempt. This one isn’t as set in stone like it would have been if say the Saints or Baltimore Ravens were playing in this game, where they have very good backup quarterbacks who have been used to make passes, but it’s still going to happen.
This came to a head last season with the “Philly Special,” but at that point the bet was already won because Danny Amendola threw a pass to Brady, which hit off his hands. Now, the Patriots have Julian Edelman who’s a former college quarterback himself. Then. you have the innovative mind of Sean McVay on the other side. This feels like a sure bet to go over, and for every $100 you bet on this one, you win 110 bucks.
Total Touchdowns Both Teams – 6 1/2 (-110)
This game feels like it’s going to end up being a barn burner. Both these teams have very, very good offenses and both defenses have had issues at different points in the season. There were times that experts quit on both of these teams, and times where both these teams were at risk of losing their first-round bye.
Now, they are both in the Super Bowl, and both these coaches will have motivation to be aggressive. Obviously, asking for seven touchdowns feels like a lot, but it’s not when you really think of it.
All we need for this bet to hit is one team to get 28 points off of touchdowns and the other to get 21. That’s very likely if you think about it.
Rob Gronkowski TDs Against Steph Curry Missed Free Throws (-140)
You can make bets tying just about any player on the field to players in basketball, hockey and soccer games being played on Super Bowl weekend. This one pits Rob Gronkowski scoring a touchdown against Steph Curry missing a free throw.
This seemed obvious to me at first. Curry is one of the best pure shooters in history, but everyone misses shots, even at the highest level. It just happens. However, it apparently doesn’t happen to Curry. He’s missed one free throw THIS MONTH. That’s insane. He is on an absolute roll right now, and likely won’t miss again.
Rob Gronkowski is in his worst season of his career. He played in 13 games, and has just three touchdowns. He hasn’t scored a touchdown in the playoffs. The Patriots are focused more on the rushing game. There are so many reasons why Gronk won’t get a touchdown, but this could be his last game of his career. He’s going to put it all on the line, and worst comes to worst if he gets none and Curry gets none it’s a push. Gronkowski is the smart bet here.
