During the 2017 NFL season, the Minnesota Vikings played their way all the way to the NFC Championship Game, losing to the Philadelphia Eagles at home. Heading into 2018, the expectation was the Vikings would take the next step forward, as they signed veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to get them over the hump.

Instead, the Vikings ended up being one of the more disappointing teams in football, as they just could not string wins together on a consistent basis. As they look towards 2019, it is clear that they have talent on both sides of the ball to make a playoff run, but they need to fill in the holes up front.

One of the bigger holes on this roster is upfront on the offensive line, where the Vikings need to add some bodies in order to bring the unit back to being one of the better groups in football. One of the more intriguing offensive guard prospects in this draft class is Cody Ford from Oklahoma, who has spent the last two years blocking for Heisman Trophy winning quarterbacks in Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield.

Ford is a guy who could step in and start along the Vikings offensive line in year one, as he has the size and strength to be an NFL starting guard right now. If the Vikings are going to get back to the top of the NFC North, they have to be able to run the ball effectively with Dalvin Cook, and Ford should help them do that next season.
