2019 NFL mock draft: Quinnen Williams goes No. 1 overall
By Brad Weiss
Throughout the 2018 NFL season, the Los Angeles Chargers were one of the best teams in football, finishing the year with a 12-4 record. While that was tied for the best record in the AFC, the Chargers missed out on having the No. 1 overall seed in the conference to the Kansas City Chiefs, who had the tiebreaker over the Chargers in the AFC West division.
When it comes to this Chargers team, they should be good for a very long time, and they have no plans to move on from Philip Rivers. While the team could go ahead and select a quarterback late in round one, they would be wise to bolster their defensive line, and draft a player like Notre Dame’s Jerry Tillery.
Los Angeles has some elite talent on the edges in Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa, so bolstering the interior of the defense of line makes a lot of sense. There is a ton of high quality talent at this position in this draft class, and the Chargers should have their pick of a handful of players this late in round one.
The Chargers should be one of the best teams in the conference once again next season, as they have the talent on both sides of the ball to make another serious run. It would be nice to see Rivers win a Super Bowl, as he has been one of the more productive quarterbacks in the NFL during his career, but they have to get better on the defensive side of the ball if they’re going to accomplish that.
