2019 NFL mock draft: Super Bowl edition – Drew Lock heads to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
For the second year in a row, the New York Jets will pick with the No. 3 overall selection in the NFL Draft. Last year, they locked in on their franchise quarterback, selecting Sam Darnold from USC to lead them for the foreseeable future, and he was given the keys to the car in Week 1 of the 2018 NFL season.
With the No. 3 overall selection in 2019, the Jets could go a number of different ways, but they should focus on up front on either side of the line. They certainly could add an offensive lineman here at No. 3, but Quinn Williams from Alabama may be too good of a player to pass up.
During his time in Alabama, Williams established himself as the premier defensive tackle in this draft class and should hear his name called in the first five selections this April. The Jets have a long way to go before they are a formidable force in the AFC or even the AFC East, and they need to start stacking talented players immediately.
Darnold showed us in Year One that he has the talent to be a special player, but the Jets need to start putting talent around him. They went out and brought in a new head coach in Adam Gase this off-season, and it will be up to him to try to lead this franchise back to the playoffs for the first time since Rex Ryan was their head coach.
