3. Jason Verrett, CB Los Angeles Chargers

The Broncos defense did well against the run. However, adding a corner to help defend the pass will be beneficial for 2019.

Chris Harris Jr. is still on the team, and he is still one of the top corner backs in the NFL. But, finding a true number-two to play on the opposite side of the field has been an issue.

Bradley Roby served as the team’s second option at corner this past season and he was less than spectacular. He, like Veldheer, will become a free agent this offseason and the team should feel no inclination to re-sign him over some of the other free agent options.

Jason Verrett of the Los Angeles Chargers should be the player the Broncos make a play for to replace Roby. Yes, Verrett may be risky because he missed the entire 2018 season with a torn Achilles tendon, but that’s a risk the team should make.

Verrett excelled when he was healthy. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015 and he has five interceptions in his career.

It’s unlikely that Verrett garners a massive, long-term contract coming off such a potentially career-threatening injury. Having multiple lock down corners helps any team in the NFL, but it helps teams in the AFC West that much more with the juggernaut offenses within the division.

Having two lock down corners allows the Broncos to send more pressure, which would be a nightmare for opposing offenses.
