3. Liverpool silence critics with thumping of Bournemouth

Liverpool and Manchester City have been trying to one up each other all season and this seems to have applied to their negative results as well. Liverpool looked to have a fantastic opportunity to put themselves seven points clear at the top just over a week a go and now they’re level on points with City.

The Reds have a game in hand that could prove to be crucial but they need to regain their focus and get back to winning ways this weekend after two disappointing draws against Leicester and West Ham.

Fortunately for Jurgen Klopp’s side, this weekend they play Bournemouth, who are very beatable and definitely one of Liverpool’s favorite teams to play. In their past three games against the Cherries, Liverpool have notched an impressive 11 goals while also keeping clean sheet in each match.

Another performance like that should restore the Reds confidence and set them on the right path heading into this final stretch of games that could see them win their first title since 1990.

Bournemouth are a great side and they like to play open free-flowing soccer that is easy on the eye but sometimes not the most tactically effective. However, Eddie Howe knows he can afford to play like this as they win their fair share of games against teams outside the top six which has always kept them safe.

The Cherries will definitely have a go at Liverpool but this should leave them very susceptible to the Reds’ potent and pacy attack. Klopp will be expecting a response from his side and he’ll get it this weekend with Liverpool running out 5-1 winners and reaffirming their status as title contenders.
