9. Jerrion Ealy, Running Back, Ole Miss

Ole Miss secured five-star running back Jerrion Ealy as he signed with the Rebels on National Signing Day, and in doing so nabbed one of the best recruits in this year’s class. Ealy announced his intent to sign with Ole Miss as the Rebels beat out football giants like Alabama, Clemson and Mississippi State for the blue-chip in-state recruit.

Ealy ranks in as 247Sports’ No. 3 prospect in the state of Mississippi, and the No. 3 running back. Ealy also ranks in as the No. 29 recruit, and comes ready for action with a versatile skill set that includes plus pass-catching ability.

But…there’s a catch. (no pun intended)

Ealy is a noted baseball prospect, and could end up in the major leagues as soon as this summer. Ealy is ranked as a perfect 10 prospect by Perfectgame.org, and will feature in both sports at Ole Miss if he makes it to campus (depending on his upcoming choice).

It really all breaks down to two options:

The first is that Ealy is selected in the first round of the 2019 MLB Draft, and elects to go straight to professional baseball.

The second is that Ealy enrolls in classes at Ole Miss, and is an immediate impact player in both the Rebels’ football and baseball programs. If you’re Ole Miss, you have to be hoping you can persuade Ealy to come in and earn himself a Kyler Murray-esque pay increase by the time he leaves campus for good.
