Round 4 – Pick 105

Rock Ya-Sin, CB, Temple

The Jets went out last year and spent big on Trumaine Johnson to secure their cornerback position. They also brought back Morris Claiborne on a one-year deal. Claiborne may not be back with the team but there is some depth there with Buster Skrine and Perry Nickerson. Do not be surprised to see them bring in another free agent as well should Claiborne walk.

There is talent to be had in the middle rounds of this draft at the corner position. A first-team all name player who can make some impacts in the NFL is Rock Ya-Sin from Temple. While he may not be a plug-and-play corner, the tools are there for a productive future starter in the league.

Ya-Sin was a press man corner at Temple who uses his long frame to disrupt receivers before they get going. He has solid hips to turn and chase them once they are off the line as well. Despite being productive he leaves some meat on the bone when the ball is in the air, and it is something he will need to work on going forward. At 6-foot-1 he has the ideal size and length to play outside opposite Trumaine Johnson as he progresses.

The long corner was beat up a bit at the Senior Bowl by the likes of Deebo Samuel but he held his own at times as well. Mobile likely helped his draft stock more than it hurt it but there were questions after that week. Ya-Sin will need to put on an impressive combine to push into day two territory of this class.
