4. New York Giants

One of the teams most likely to shake up their quarterback room in some fashion is the New York Giants, who need to find a long-term succession plan for Eli Manning. Manning has a $23.2 million cap hit on the final year of his contract, but the Giants can save $17 million by releasing him.

If the Giants opt to go down that road, they would need a quarterback to hold the fort for a couple of years until they find their future franchise quarterback in the draft. Keenum would make a ton of sense for the Giants, especially when you consider his connection with head coach Pat Shurmur.

Shurmur was the offensive coordinator for the Vikings in 2017, when Keenum had the best offensive statistics of his career. Keenum started 15 games for the Vikings that year and threw for 3,547 yards with 22 touchdowns against only seven interceptions.

The Vikings had a talented supporting cast for Keenum to work with, featuring elite wide receivers Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen, tight end Kyle Rudolph, and a talented runner in Latavius Murray. Keenum would be able to replicate that formula in New York with Odell Beckham Jr, Sterling Shepard, Evan Engram, and Offensive Rookie of the Year Saquon Barkley.

Even if the Giants decide to retain Manning, Keenum could make sense for them as a backup quarterback. Shurmur has made it clear that he likes having a veteran backup, and Keenum would be a clear upgrade over Alex Tanney in that role.
