4. Lamarcus Joyner FS, Los Angeles Rams

Sometimes, taking a gamble on yourself can prove too be too risky. Lamarcus Joyner took that risk when he decided to play under the franchise tag in 2018. Although, he didn’t really have much of a say on that matter.

Regardless, Joyner was scheduled to hit the open market last offseason, after he had a career year. In 2017, he intercepted three passes in 12 games. Those were the first picks of his career, after having zero over his first three seasons in the NFL.

Joyner didn’t become a full-time starter until the latter part of his five-year career. The former second-round pick was selected in the same draft as Clinton-Dix.

The 28-year-old still had himself a solid campaign in 2018. He had one interception, 78 combined tackles and one sack in 15 games for the Los Angeles Rams. His current market value sits just under $11 million a year, according to spotrac.com.

You may look at Joyner’s ratings and stats and wonder how his market value is so high. Well, his value comes from not only his steady safety play, but his ability to drop down and play cornerback if needed. The ability to play multiple positions in the secondary allows defensive coordinators to employ various different looks and formations.

After playing under a salary of just over $11 million in 2018, Joyner may be looking at a little less in his next contract. Nevertheless, he will be a dynamic addition to any team.
