4. Margus Hunt, Defensive tackle

When a new coach comes into the fold, it’s easy to make the connection to their former players to join them via free agency. This continues to be the case as the Bears could decide to pursue another former Pagano protege, Margus Hunt.

Hunt (6-foot-8) is a giant on the interior and has proved himself to be one of the better interior run defenders in the NFL during his past two seasons in Indianapolis. With the number of outstanding interior defenders available in the draft (and the Bears without a selection in the first two rounds), free agency could be the route the team decides to go to strengthen their run defense.

Hunt registered 20 run stops in 240 attempts last season, per Pro Football Focus, and as a player who is a bit older than some of the other players at the position on the open market, Chicago could strike on a reasonable one or two-year deal.

With experience playing on both the inside and outside over the course of his career, Hunt could become an outstanding rotational defender to improve a unit that was already one of the best in the league against the run last season.
