2. Offensive line

Oddly enough, the Chargers had one of the best offenses in the league, while having a fair amount of inconsistencies on offensive line. They were a top-10 offense, and they were the number 10 ranked passing team. They ranked 15th in rushing and 8th overall in points-per game (26.8) and total touchdowns (51).

Pro Football Focus had the offensive line ranked towards the bottom of the league after Week 17. Footballoutsiders.com ranked them fifth in run blocking and 13th in pass protection. Pass blocking could use some muscle at the guard or tackle position to replace either Sam Tevi or Dan Feeney.

The team offensive line did keep a fairly clean pocket for their veteran quarterback, as he was sacked a modest 34 times in 2018. However, Telesco should go out and sign someone to reinforce the offensive line.

As far as the guard position goes, veteran Rodger Saffold would be a great pickup to replace Feeney. The Los Angeles Rams guard has experience playing various positions on the line, specifically both guard spots.

Addressing the need for a tackle to replace Tevi will be pricier. There are many options such as Daryl Williams, Ju’wuan James and Trent Brown, all of which are young too. As would be the case with signing Mosley, this would be smart money spent. Not only would this help Rivers next season, but it would help his successor in the future.

The offensive line makes or breaks any team success year in and year out, therefore the Chargers should do what they can to try and make one final push with Rivers in 2019.
