Duke lost Zion Williamson, then their No. 1 ranking after losing to North Carolina, but who will be the new No. 1 in this week’s college basketball rankings?

It’s starting to feel like March is already here with the way top teams are going down and we’re going to have a new No. 1 team yet again as Duke lost at home in a huge rivalry game against North Carolina. Zion Williamson went down with a knee sprain and didn’t return, so you can imagine just how motivated he’ll be for the rematch.

The Tar Heels didn’t stop there as they smacked Florida State around to secure two AP Top 25 wins in the same week by double figures. You can expect a nice jump for North Carolina in the Week 17 rankings.

That begs the question, though, who will take over the No. 1 spot? Will it be a Gonzaga team that has been lightly tested ever since it lost to North Carolina and Tennessee? Or will we see Virginia rise to the top spot despite losing a couple of games to Duke this season?

Those questions will all be answered on Monday afternoon when the rankings are released, but I’ll give my prediction on who I believe takes over the top spot.

What could the Week 17 AP Top 25 predictions look like?
