The 2018 NFL season was a serious roller coaster for the Carolina Panthers, who were one of the hottest teams in football for the first half of the season. However, they would end up losing seven of their last eight games, and have some serious questions in terms of their roster heading into next season.

Quarterback Cam Newton was shut down towards the end of the 2018 NFL season, as he was dealing with a right shoulder issue. In fact, before he was even benched, he was replaced by backup Taylor Heinicke to throw the deep ball late in the game early in December, so you knew something was wrong.

The hope is that the rest can help Newton regain his form, because this team is only going to go as far as his right arm will  take them. The Panthers have needs on both sides of the ball, but they must improve their secondary, as you cannot afford to be weak against the pass in a very competitive NFC South.

Mike Adams is certainly up there in age, and despite the fact he is dealing with a wrist injury, Deionte Thompson should still hear his name called in the first round in 2019. The Panthers made a commitment to Eric Reid this offseason, and teaming him with Thompson would give them a dominant duo for years to come.
