As we’ve mentioned before, cornerback is a pressing need with the pending free agency of Bryce Callahan but with most of the top cornerbacks off the board by the time the Bears pick in the third round, the team could instead wait to pad the position’s depth later.

Bunting (6-foot-0, 195 pounds) totaled nine interceptions during his Chippewas career and would serve as a solid Day 3 prospect for Chicago.

Bunting helped himself at the Combine this week with a 4.42 40-yard dash, showing that he has the deep speed needed to compete at the NFL level. He is still a bit raw as a prospect overall but has the speed and coverage skills needed to potentially excel in the slot, which is likely where the Bears would need him.

The 2019 draft’s class of wide receivers is chock full of remarkable athletes. While names like literal create-a-player DK Metcalf get a majority of the attention, names like Northwestern State’s Jazz Ferguson can slip under the radar.

Ferguson (6-foot-4, 227 pounds) is another freakish athlete at the wide receiver position and wowed Combine viewers with a 4.45 40-yard dash and 37-inch vertical this week. He’s the brother of fellow ’19 prospect Jaylon Ferguson of Louisiana Tech and could be a nice weapon for the Bears to add to their deep wide receivers group.

Ferguson transferred to Northwestern State after a tumultuous first two years of his college career at LSU, and was named Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2018 after catching 13 touchdowns.

Ferguson is definitely a luxury add but there’s a whole lot to like as far as traits are concerned and perhaps Matt Nagy could employ him similar to Chris Conley during his time in Kansas City.
