Seattle Seahawks free agency 2019: Top 5 targets
2. TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins (Jacksonville Jaguars)
At first, it looked like the Seahawks’ acquisition of tight end Jimmy Graham would be a disappointing one. But as time wore on, Graham began to grow on quarterback Russell Wilson. Obtained via trade from the New Orleans Saints in 2015, the talented performer played in only 11 games that first year before going down with a knee injury. Hs finished with 48 receptions for 605 yards and two scores. One year later, Graham finished with 65 grabs, good for 923 yards and six touchdowns. In his final season with the club, he had 57 catches and just 520 yards, but he did reach the end zone 10 times.
As previously mentioned, three Seahawks’ tight ends (Nick Vannett, Ed Dickson and Will Dissly) combined for eight of Russell Wilson’s 35 touchdown tosses this past season. So would talented Austin Seferian-Jenkins help this club in a different way as another proposed signing, Dwayne Allen? Injuries limited the five-year pro to five games, 11 catches and one touchdown in 2018. And it doesn’t look like he will return to the Jacksonville Jaguars this year. Back in 2017 with the New York Jets, the 6-foot-5, 262-pound tight end was targeted 74 times and finished with 50 catches for 357 yards and one score.
Seferian-Jenkins, a 2014 second-round pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has certainly had his issues. But could the former University of Washington standout enjoy a homecoming of sorts with a fourth different organization?
