Indianapolis Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are flush with cap space and are looking to build off last year’s success. They are all of a sudden a Super Bowl contender with a healthy Andrew Luck and some great additions in last year’s draft.

Indianapolis has over $100 million to spend in free agency which makes them strong players for Weddle. He shouldn’t come at a high cost based on his age. This would allow a team like the Colts to spend bigger dollars on other areas of need.

Weddle would work well alongside former first-round pick Malik Hooker. Both are ballhawks and have the ability to create turnovers. Weddle would serve more as the big-hitter in this pairing which shouldn’t be a problem.

Indianapolis has three safeties from last year’s roster hitting free agency. It’s possible that all of Clayton Geathers, J.J. Wilcox and Mike Mitchell land elsewhere. In fact, none of that group has done enough to warrant a long-term deal from the Colts.

Again, the draft doesn’t offer any great options at the safety position which could increase Weddle’s market. The Colts are one of the teams that could afford giving Weddle a bigger money but shorter-term deal.
