4. Buffalo is finally giving Sean McDermott some help

It’s nothing short of a miracle that Sean McDermott has been able to reach the playoffs and avoid the No. 1 overall pick in his two seasons with the Bills. Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane has given him decent defensive pieces in men like Tre’Davious White and Jerry Hughes, but little to work with on the offensive side of the ball.

Still, the defensive-minded McDermott has managed to reach the playoffs in his first season and then coax five wins out of a roster that appeared destined to go 1-15 before the year began. Coming over from the Carolina Panthers, the first-time head coach had to prove he was worthy of his current seat, and he’s done that. Giving him Antonio Brown is a good step in getting McDermott a chance to succeed in a bigger way.

Look, Buffalo still needs to add some serious talent on the offensive side of the ball. While Zay Jone is an NFL talent, he’s not going to help take any coverage away from Brown. The Bills would be wise to consider drafting a receiver or tight end in the first round, perhaps one of the Iowa stars or Ole Miss’ D.K. Metcalf.
