1. Indianapolis Colts

If it comes down to an aforementioned bidding war for Houston’s services, the Colts will win if they want to. They have the most salary cap space in the league ($106.4 million), and they also need an edge rusher very badly.

A look at Indianapolis’ sack leaders from last year shows an interior presence in defensive tackle Denico Autry (nine sacks) and inside linebacker Darius Leonard (seven sacks). Then you get to Jabaal Sheard (5.5 sacks) and Margus Hunt (five sacks) coming off the edge.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard was in Kansas City’s front office through most of Houston’s career there, so there’s plenty of familiarity there. The Colts should appeal to Houston in a lot of respects too, as a team on the rise just entering a window where they could be very good and of course with the ability to add other notable veteran talent this offseason.

Money may be a secondary concern for Houston at this stage of his career, but it’s not like he’ll get low-balled on the open market either. Indianapolis can pony up to get him, and give him a good chance at a Super Bowl ring over the next couple years.
