DraftKings fantasy golf picks: The Players Championship 2019
$10,000-9,000
Rickie Fowler ($9,700)
Four top 10s and a win on the season look good for Fowler, though he’s been wholly inconsistent with his overall finishes in his eight starts this year, even if he’s made the cut. However, as a former winner at The Players Championship has still been putting well and, if he can shore up his game prior to getting to the green, he could be a great play at Sawgrass.
Jon Rahm ($9,500)
Rahm has quietly been on a pretty terrific tear to start this season with six top-10 finishes in eight starts, including a win back in November at the Hero World Challenge. While he was pedestrian at the WGC-Mexico Championship his last time out, we know how good he can be when locked in, making him a potential high-reward gamble on DraftKings.
Bryson DeChambeau ($9,300)
Simply because of the limited players in this price range, I’m including DeChambeau. However, he finished outside the top 30 last year at Sawgrass and has cooled off tremendously from his white-hot start to the season with a T56 and T46 in his last two outings. He’s a streaky player, and he’s been streaking in the wrong direction of late.
Jason Day ($9,200)
Day is a player whose health forced him to withdraw from the Arnold Palmer last week, and may actually force him out of The Players Championship as well. Therefore, you need to monitor Day’s back and see where he is before playing him. That’s a shame, because he’s been great at Sawgrass — winner in 2016, T5 last year — but his health makes him hard to trust right now.
Sergio Garcia ($9,100)
Garcia didn’t play particularly well at Sawgrass last year, finishing 70th (okay, so not well at all). However, the Spaniard has made 15-straight cuts in this tournament, winning in 2008 and showing out well on a few occasions in the past five years as well. Considering that he’s got two top-10s in his recent outings overall this season, there’s reason to believe in Sergio here.
Xander Scahuffele ($9,000)
Since winning the WGC-HSBC Champions in October, Schauffele has not finished worse than T25 in any tournament that he’s played, including another win in January and four top-10 finishes overall. On top of that, the youngster finished T2 at The Players in his tournament debut last year. All of this shapes up to him being a near must-play option this week.
